About me

Nevena Rouben, mezzo-soprano, was born in the city of Ruse, Bulgaria and was brought up in a multicultural and musical environment.

After learning the violin at the Tashkent music school in Uzbekistan, Nevena became interested in languages, and chose to study Russian Philology, obtaining a degree at the University of Sofia St. Kliment Ochridski.

Nevena soon realised that she had a great passion for singing. She obtained a Masters degree in classical singing at the New Bulgarian University in 2011. The same year Nevena made her debut appearance as Gianetta in the opera “L’elisir d’amore” by G.Donizetti.

Working alongside the well-known Bulgarian tenor Bojko Tzvetanov, Nevena’s vocal talents developed and expanded enabling her to take part in masterclasses with, among others, Eughenia Dundekova, Darina Takova and Luciana D’Intino.

Since 2012 Nevena has been working as a freelance singer in Switzerland. She lives in Pfäffikon ZH with her family. As a member of the “Music in Pfäffikon" association, she is committed to bringing classical music to the community and is very much involved in organising and performing musical events such as the annual “Early Birds Concerts” and the “Classical Evenings” at Nova Theater.

It will be interesting to see what further gems Nevena Rouben has to offer the classical music enthusiast.
